VINTAGE WHITE STAR LINE UNKNOWN PATTERN SILVER-PLATED GRAPE SHEARS, Engraved with the WHITE STAR LINE "FLAG" Logo, a GRAPE CLUSTER; and "CAFE PARISIENNE" (on back), and the Maker's Mark, AP & Co (on Blade when Open). These Elegant Grape Shears have the WHITE STAR LINE "FLAG" Logo Engraved on the Hinge area Circle Cartouche.
There is a GRAPE CLUSTER also Engraved in Circle Cartouche on the Handles (just below the finger hold). The HANDLES also have a Unknown BELL-FLOWER Type Pattern, with Cross Hatching and other Decorative Elements... When the Shears are open (on the inside of the Blades), the Makers Mark Logo, for ARTHUR PRICE & Co. (in business since 1902), they produced items for the WHITE STAR LINE... Overall size is about 6-1/2" Long x 2" Wide. Weight is about 3.2 Ounces on my Postal Scale. First Class passengers were able to eat there, but had to pay for their meals, unless they took all their meals there, then they would be entitled to a rebate. They were run Independently and Managed by Luigi Gatti, who died onboard the Titanic when it sank. It then set sail across the Atlantic on April 12, 1912 embarking on it's Maiden Voyage.It sank after hitting a iceberg on April 15, 1912 in the Atlantic. Several different spellings for "Cafe Parisienne" have appeared... I have found 3 different ones so far, Cafe Parisienne, (as appeared on Harland & Wolff Original Marine Designs and Blueprints), Cafe Parisian found on Mr. Gatti's key ring, and Cafe Parisien.
This may be one reason why this pair of Grape Shears, with this particular spelling, "Cafe Parisienne" survived. They may have been removed at one of the stops they made en route prior the Maiden Voyage; or possibly, may have been taken as a souvenir at one of those stops before setting off across the Atlantic... Or taken at a later date from the Olympic... Just prior, and on it's way to the Maiden Voyage of the Titanic...
